Jack joined Chambers as a tenant in 2022 following his successful completion of a common law pupillage under the supervision of Karina Champion.
Principally undertaking commercial and civil matters, and frequently also advising and giving talks in the same, Jack has advised and appeared for clients in a wide range of areas of law, and in turn has already gained valuable and transferrable experience which continues to hone his overall practice.
Jack is a conscientious and professional advocate who is engaging and personable both within and without the courtroom. He will strive to accommodate urgent timetables and adapt to the sensitivities of each case.
Jack is proficient in German and Arabic.
Having already undertaken an eclectic array of commercial work relating to contractual disputes, recovery of commercial debts, insolvency proceedings and probate, among other areas of commercial and chancery law, Jack enthusiastically accepts instructions for commercial cases of any description. Jack has experience of a wide variety of commercial hearings, ranging from trials to application hearings and winding up petitions.
Jack has also appeared in respect of banking and Consumer Credit Act claims including those relating to PPI and PCP.
Jack is also experienced in appearing in, and advising on, applications for vacant possession of property, and in all circumstances he undertakes client conferences with confidence and sensitivity.
Outside the practice of advocacy, advice can be sought from Jack in relation to all aspects of commercial law and he undertakes paperwork quickly and decisively.
Jack is keen to develop his presence at the Commercial Bar; he has delivered a talk on unfair prejudice petitions in September 2023, and a talk on freezing injunctions to the Liverpool Business and Property Court Forum in July 2023.
Jack is familiar with construction disputes including adjudication, JCTs, and NECs, as well as the enforcement of adjudicators' awards; and keenly accepts instructions on the same.
Jack has undertaken a range of civil hearings, including applications and trials up to and including the Fast Track, and case management conferences up to the Multi Track. His practice is varied, encompassing personal injury, medical negligence, credit hire, employers’ liability and public liability work, including defending in highways claims.
He advises regularly on liability, quantum, and next steps in relation to a diverse array of claims.
Jack has extended his civil profile outside his work and has given talks on Highways Act claims, industrial disease (COSHH), and QOCS.
Jack accepts instructions in Employment matters and has rapidly been developing experience in that area; including having advised in matters of unfair/unlawful dismissal, constructive dismissal, and workplace discrimination.
Jack accepts instructions in matters relating to Housing Disrepair.
Jack is a CPS Grade 1 Prosecutor and has prosecuted regularly in the Magistrates’ Court, as well as having frequently also defended appeals on conviction and sentence to the Crown Court. He has acted for the appellant and respondent with respect to applications to vacate a guilty plea. Jack has also undertaken cash forfeiture applications in the Magistrates’ Court and prosecutions brought in respect of data governance.
